Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree in order to qualify. 

The DSI-HSRC Internship Programme is a two-year work experience programme for bachelor, honors and masters graduates. 

Applicants have to be 35 years of age or younger at the time of submitting an application or commencing with the internship.

It will form part of the pool of applications from which mentors at host institutions will interview and select Interns. Selected interns will sign a two-year appointment contract with the HSRC and will be expected to commence duty on 03 July 2023 or 01 August 2023 at their respective host institutions. Please refer to Intern process flow document under the Supporting Document menu for more information.  

The Strategic Policy Framework on Disability for the PSET (2018), defines Disability as “the loss or elimination of opportunities to take part in the life of the community, equitably with others, encountered by persons having physical, sensory, psychological, developmental, learning, neurological or other impairments, which may be permanent, temporary or episodic in nature, thereby causing activity limitations and participation restriction within mainstream society. These barriers may be due to economic, physical/structural, social, attitudinal and/or cultural factors.”

You need to alert the HSRC  DSI_HSRC_Internship.queries@hsrc.ac.za before you create a new application. 

On the landing page of the DSI-HSRC Internship Management system, click on Forgot 
Password button, capture your email address and click on Submit button.

  • If you have already registered on the previous systems (PHP Interim Online System), please use your existing login details to access this system. If you have forgotten your password, please click on the Forgotten Password link to reset the password. If you are a mentor and wish to participate on the programme – inform your host administrator to add you under their host institution application.
  • For technical online enquiries, please contact the Support Desk (Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 to 16h30, excluding public holidays)

Important note: Only the host administrator(s) is permitted to create host account – all interested mentors need to liaise with HSRC support team to obtain the contact details of their current host administrator(s).
